After the Storm
We weathered Hurricane Ernesto just fine. Friday and Saturday it rained and it poured, quite a sorry beginning to the last weekend of summer here on the island. On Friday we hunkered down for a wet, windy weekend. Bob left for a short time to watch Cody's football scrimmage and said that the line of cars leaving the island was far longer than that coming on. We had winds of 50mph and lots of rain, but all was calm by last night. This morning we awoke to one of the most beautiful days we've had in weeks! The white tents were going up bright and early at Viking Village for the art show and it seems that all those who stayed for the weekend came out to play. I donned my white capris for the last time this season (can't wear white after Labor Day), got a latte and strolled through the art show. Bob left for the Pine Barrens with a shopping list of pictures that I need for the book and returned after dark, his assignment completed. What a nice way to end the summer. Here comes September and first grade for Helayna, Happy Anniversary to Alli and Joe...and we're on our way to Fall. Cheers!
